Whereas each member of the Engineers and Architects Association Board of Governors swears “ to uphold the EAA Constitution and to work within the structure of EAA’s By-Laws, to uphold the rights of the membership and to work to the best of their ability to further the interests of the membership, and to use all of their abilities to make sure that EAA stays a fiscally healthy organization”; and
Whereas the EAA Board of Governors Code of Conduct requires that each Governor “foster an attitude of cooperation and solidarity with fellow Board members and the general membership, uphold the principle of impartial communication and dissemination of information to the membership, and maintain Board confidentiality as it relates to privileged information that is conveyed in trust to Board members”; and
Whereas Governor Kesavan Korand has repeatedly failed to maintain confidentiality regarding information conveyed in trust to the Board and to the EAA negotiating team, resulting in disciplinary action pursuant to Board Policy; and
Whereas Governor Korand has repeatedly disseminated erroneous information which has misled EAA membership; and
Whereas Governor Korand has participated in the circulation of petitions which he knew, or should have known, circumvented the Constitutional authority of the Board of Governors; and
Whereas Governor Korand has voted to approve Board motions which he then actively worked to undermine in his interaction with the membership –
NOW THEREFORE be it resolved that the EAA Board of Governors, on this date, publicly and formally censures Governor Kesavan Korand; and further, the Board instructs union staff to post this Board censure on the EAA website so as to ensure that the membership is made aware of this Board action.
